The Greater Detroit Afghan Hound Club is a non-profit group of Afghan Hound devotees who meet approximately ten times a year.   We are a diverse group of experienced owners and exhibitors united in a common cause: the preservation and betterment of our beloved Afghan Hounds.  Guests and potential members are welcome.

In addition to educational activities, we hold an independent Afghan Hound Specialty every year.  We are active in rescuing unwanted and/or abused Afghan Hounds and welcome your assistance if you are interested in providing a suitable permanent or temporary home for one of our "rescue dogs".

We have a wealth of experience amongst our membership and would be happy to assist or advise anyone regarding breeder referral, training, grooming, exhibiting, nutrition, breeding, whelping or any problems you might be having with your Afghan Hound.  Our members are active in confirmation, obedience, coursing and agility.

The Greater Detroit Afghan Hound Club is one of the oldest Afghan clubs in the U.S.A.  It began formation in 1964 and held it's first annual specialty in 1966.
